Raag Trio : Paul Brook, Rishab Prasanna and Parvez Hussain

When Indian bansuri flute master Rishab Prasanna and guitarist Paul Brook reunited in New Delhi in January 2016, their shared passion for improvisation naturally led to an intense series of recordings blending Indian classical music, acoustic fusion, and contemporary world music.
Joined by virtuoso tabla player Parvez Hussain, the trio created a unique acoustic project inspired by the traditional structure of the Indian raga: a meditative opening without percussion, followed by the gradual introduction of rhythm, melodic development, and accelerating tempo through the expressive power of the tabla.
Rooted in the spirit of Hindustani classical music, the project also explores new musical territories through Paul Brook’s harmonic guitar approach, adding atmospheric textures, subtle pop influences, and cinematic depth to the purity of the raga form. His “indianized” guitar creates bridges between cultures, supporting the bansuri while opening unexpected musical pathways between East and West.
The result is an immersive and innovative world music experience — meditative, organic, and deeply emotional — where bansuri flute, acoustic guitar, and tabla enter into a vibrant cross-cultural dialogue.
Recorded live in New Delhi, this project reflects a contemporary vision of Indian fusion music, combining improvisation, spiritual atmosphere, acoustic soundscapes, and intercultural collaboration.
